What. A. Day.

The Classic 2025 delivered everything we hoped for and more – sunshine, cracking golf, and people genuinely enjoying themselves around the club.

From the first tee shot to the final prize draw, the club was buzzing with energy. 36 teams took part, and every single one walked away with a prize.

There were competitions on every hole – some serious (longest drives, nearest the pins), some a little more… creative. The putting was precise, the drives were booming, and the laughs were non-stop.

The Pimm’s Centre (aka the halfway house) became an oasis of refreshment – cold drinks flowing, a few soft options thrown in for good measure. Huge thanks to Sam and Reece and the hospitality team and our ever-generous members for making it such a hit.

Let’s talk prizes. The coveted 1st place fourball – featuring William Garrod, Kieran Smith, Louis Donaldson, and Tom Arnold – are heading to Hunstanton Golf Club. Not bad, eh?

Second place? A stunning trip to Sheringham Golf Club for Gareth Edwards, Alex Quinton, Alfie Edwards, and Harvey Brown.

And our third-place legends – Steve McMurry, Richard Cubitt, George Lindsay, and Alex Holmes – are off to the Forest of Arden.

Beyond that? Vouchers galore: Thetford, Spalding, Bishops Stortford, Ely, Peterborough, Swaffham, Five Lakes, and many more. We had 36 team prizes thanks to the generosity of clubs across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, and Herts.

We owe massive thanks to our sponsors – Aldreds, Pertwee and Back, 24/7 Plumbers & Heating, SSAF and Greene King and our incredibly generous members – as well as everyone who bought a raffle ticket, played, poured drinks, or clapped a good shot.

Special thanks go to:

  • Dave Arend, the Boardman of Alcatraz – you had to be there to get it.

  • David Kightley, who is simply a godsend behind the scenes – he even secured the motorcar sponsorship!

  • Peter Munford, the energy source of Caister – he produced the scorecards, sold the raffle tickets, and kept everything moving.

  • Mark Sumner, simply the best… better than all the rest.

Let’s not forget the ladies in the halfway house, the prize table crew, Tim’s brilliant grandchildren, and the paparazzi who captured it all.

And yes… a nod to the “fat bloke whose idea it was.” You legend.

Until next year – The Classic lives on.
