Sunshine, Swinging & Slightly Suspect Scorecards!
The Easter weekend at the club proved, once again, that golf is best enjoyed in bulk, four
days, four competitions, and just enough chocolate consumption to blame any wayward
shots on “seasonal interference.”

Good Friday – The Easter Bunny Texas Scramble
Festivities teed off with the ever-popular Easter Bunny Texas Scramble, where teamwork, tactical genius, and the occasional “strategic” contribution all came into play. Fairways were found (mostly), putts were holed, and the spirit of the game was alive and well helped along by generous interpretations of whose drive to take in very breezy conditions. It was tough!
Winners: Alex Fellas Robert Clements Archie Smith and Ben Stocker with a nett score of 52.11
Rumour has it the Easter Bunny himself was seen checking the scorecards… and raising an eyebrow if not a coffee brandy to help the speedy leg recovery.

Saturday – Pink & Pes Stableford Series
Saturday brought a return to individual glory (or otherwise) in the Pink & Pes Stableford. With conditions testing just enough to keep egos in check, it was a day where consistency paid off and blobs were handed out like mini eggs.
Winner: Handicap Martin Grimmer 41 points and Scratch was Greg Jarvis with 34 points.
A fine performance, combining steady play with just enough flair to stay ahead of the chasing pack. I am sure Martin will be happy to talk you through it.

Sunday – The Penn Medal & Lucas Cup (Scratch)
Sunday was where things got serious. The prestigious Penn Medal and the Lucas Cup Scratch Event separated the hopefuls from the hardened competitors. In a display that
surprised absolutely no one, the club’s top golfer once again reminded everyone why their name is usually engraved on something.
Penn Medal Winner: Simon Clark gross 69
Lucas Cup (handicap) Winner: Warren Bensley with a nett 67
Another commanding performance from our Head Greenkeeper good job he never practises, consistency, precision, and just a hint of inevitability.

Easter Monday – The Artisans Foursomes
Rounding off the marathon weekend was the long-established Artisans Foursomes. Partnerships were tested, patience occasionally stretched, and communication proved to be… selective at times. Alternate shot always has a way of revealing true friendships.
Winners: Tom Gilbert and the inform Archie Smith nett 70.
A well-earned victory after navigating both the course and conditions after hard playing in the sunshine for a change.
Final Thoughts...
All in all, a fantastic Easter weekend of golf, well supported, keenly contested, and played in
great spirit throughout. Credit to everyone who took part (and especially those who survived
all four days).
Now, where did we put those leftover Easter eggs…
